Tender Detail : |
Under the Indo-German Bilateral Development Cooperation, the focal areas currently are: - Energy - Environment, Climate Change and Biodiversity - Sustainable Urban and Industrial Development - Sustainable Economic Development
Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), in partnership with the GIZ, is implementing a Technical Cooperation project “Wetlands management for biodiversity and climate protection” with funding support from the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) under the International Climate Initiative (IKI). The goal of the project is to strengthen the institutional framework and capacities for an ecosystem-based integrated management of wetlands of international importance (Ramsar sites) in India. The project is being implemented in close cooperation with the National Plan for Conservation of Aquatic Ecosystems (NPCA) with an overall objective to establish an integrated management approach at four Ramsar sites (namely, Pong, Renuka, Bhitarkanika and Point Calimere). Implementation is being undertaken in partnership with the respective State Wetland Authorities and site-level management institutions.
The Wetlands Project seeks to engage an agency in Himachal Pradesh to conduct stakeholder consultations to support preparation of integrated management plans (IMP) based on ecosystem-approach for Renuka Lake and Pong Dam Ramsar sites.
The IMP refers to a document that describes strategies and actions for achieving wise use of the wetland and includes objectives of site management; management actions required to achieve the objectives; factors that affect, or may affect, the various site features; monitoring requirements for detecting changes in ecological character and for measuring the effectiveness of management; and resources for management implementation.
The assignment will involve conducting consultations with diverse stakeholders, identifying specific priorities in the management of Ramsar wetlands in Renuka and Pong. This includes identifying issues, conflicting priorities and possible solutions to generate common visions for the management of wetlands in the future. The preparation of comprehensive documentation of the outcome of stakeholder workshops is critical in this assignment, which will be the basis for taking forward further engagement with policymakers and preparation of IMP by GIZ.
